Laundromats are Prime Event Venues
In the name of nostalgia and unexpected photo-worthy vibes, brands are connecting with their audience where they are at...or spend multiple hours one day per week. Here is a rundown of why brands are loving laundromats as event venues.
TL;DR
Brands are turning laundromats into surprisingly awesome pop-up event spaces.
Why? Because they’re familiar, unique, and weirdly perfect for storytelling.
From fake weddings to 15-minute raves, these activations are creating major buzz with everyday backdrops.
For the majority of city dwelling 20-45ish year old's, laundry day is a day of dread - and without any hype have become a central hub for community. So as an experience marketer, why not use that "right under your nose" mentality and host your next right inside your local laundromat. Here are how brands are already connecting this way.
And brands are already integrating into communities this way
💘 LG’s Launderette of Love (NYC)

Laundry meets love story. LG set up a full-blown laundromat themed wedding chapel in the middle of a New York City. Ten couples said “I do” while (real and fake) washers hummed in the background. It was all part of their “Launderette of Love” campaign, which made folding towels feel romantic.
🎧 Persil’s Fast Wash & Rave (London)

Wash your clothes, catch a set. Persil threw a literal rave at a London laundromat to show off their Wonder Wash detergent’s 15 minute clean guarantee, complimented by 15-minute DJ sets timed perfectly with the wash cycles. People got their clothes cleaned while vibing out to a mini club set. Wild and it worked.
📺 FX’s Suds & Sounds (LA + NYC)

Adulting is hard so FX made it funny. To launch their new series Adults, they hosted events in working laundromats with DJs, cocktails, Polaroid photo ops, tarot readings, and yes, free laundry. It turned everyone’s least favorite task into a chaotic, nostalgic party.
Why This Works
Laundromats hit that perfect experiential sweet spot: intimate footprint, built-in storytelling, and a little grit to contrast with the polish. They’re proof that brands just need smart context and cultural fluency vs a large budget. It’s not about spectacle. It’s about surprise.
Familiar = Trust: The venue talks to a particular audience. It’s easy to feel at home.
Unexpected = Buzz: Nobody expects a DJ next to a detergent dispenser.
Nostalgia = Feels: Laundry pulls in childhood memories, college dorm life, awkward adulting. Things people love to joke about and remember.
Compact = Efficient: Small footprint, high-impact, super easy to theme
